Product Description
Product Description
3M Peltor Optime 101 Over-the-Head- Earmuffs are recommended for TWA noise exposures up to 101 dBA. A stainless steel headband provides consistent force to keep the earcups snugly in place yet with low-pressure fit that is more comfortable. Earcup pivot points tilt for a fit that is customized to each person who wears the earmuffs. The wide and liquid/foam filled earmuff cushions fit gently to help create a comfortable noise-blocking seal. These comfort features may encourage a higher rate of hearing protection compliance among workers who require hearing protection. Recommended applications for these earmuffs include chipping, chiseling, drilling, furnace operations, grinding, heavy equipment operations, machining, pour/casting, power fastening, riveting, sanding, sawing, and welding. These earmuffs are commonly used in the following industries: agriculture, automotive, chemicals, construction, general manufacturing, healthcare, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. For TWA noise exposures up to 101 dBA, these lightweight and comfortable Optime 101 earmuffs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 27 dB. The TWA (Time Weighted Average) noise level indicates a worker's daily exposure to occupational noise over an 8 hour day, considering both the average level of noise and the time spent in each area. This measurement is used by OSHA in assessing noise exposure and determining appropriate action. Exposure to loud noises can adversely affect the ability to hear over time. Wearing proper hearing protection devices can help in reducing the harmful effects of noise. Sounds levels are expressed in decibels, often abbreviated as dB. Higher decibel numbers indicate louder sounds. Typical decibel levels associated with common sounds include: outdoors with no people or traffic 20 dB, normal conversation 60 dB, power lawn mower 90 dB, chain saw 110 dB, and 12-gauge shotgun 165 dB. The hearing protector NRR can be used to evaluate different hearing protection options. However, the actual level of protection varies depending on fit, wearing time and other factors.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2024Size: Behind the headVerified PurchaseSo far, I have just worn them to make sure they fit. They seem comfortable and block a lot of ambient noise. The real test will be running the chainsaw. The muffs have a Velcro strap that goes over the top of your head, which I find useful. However, to mount it you have to pull apart the ear cups, drape the strap inside, then snap the earcup back in place. That was surprisingly difficult to accomplish. Also, there were two versions of these muffs listed on Amazon. One said they were dark green, the other didn't say. When I used the "Ask Rufus" (AI?) function, it claimed the second set was black. That's the one I ordered, but the muffs I received are actually very dark Green. Not really an issue, but just so people know.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2024Size: Over the headVerified PurchaseI frequently use this product during firing glock17. Till now, after few months it is still very comfortable and does its job.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2018Size: Behind the headVerified PurchaseI work in an environment that is not only noisy, it is the pitch of the noise I cannot tolerate (When my wife vacuums, I need to be someplace else due to the pitch of the motor). By trade I am a tool & CUTTER grinder meaning I make the tools that go into the machines that cut the metal parts. So the pitch generated by the grinding creates issues for me. These hearing protectors are comfortable to wear all day, and with the "behind the head" connection rather than the over the head band, they are comfortable and not distracting. I have had others, but this has been the best pair I have yet to own, and for the past 15 years I used the Peltor model 95, and those were good, but these are better; more comfortable. The foam outside ear pieces are more comfortable, and the cups themselves are deeper. I would recommend these to anyone that works in a noise generating environment from industrial to the home work shop to overcome the higher pitches created by table saws, routers, and other home use hi-speed tools. Save your hearing.... like teeth, once they are gone, they don't come back....
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2025Size: Behind the headVerified PurchaseLike them. Did not like the fact that had to take it apart to connect the straps. That should have been done by the manufacturer. Other than that, working well.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2024Size: Over the headVerified PurchaseTried a few different pairs and these are the only ones that stay comfortable for hours while I’m mowing. Sound blocking is exactly to the level I want. Big enough for a large head.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024Size: Behind the headVerified PurchaseI wear the over the head version at work. These are just as comfortable and I can wear a sun hat with this version for mowing that is not possible with the over the head style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good
Size: Behind the headVerified PurchaseI use them all day, these are super confortable, if it would not be strange, I'd use them the rest of the day, I am super sensitive to noise, even traffic bothers me. At work, someone besides me can use a drill in a very noisy metal and does not bother me, ironworkers can do their noise with metal and I am fine. You can't hear the people talking to you, but it is better than damaging your ears.

Trabajo en fábrica, el ruido es de aprox 95db y con estas orejeras el ruido se reduce de manera considerable y lo mejor de todo no es necesario usar tapones adicionales, el ruido queda totalmente fuera y las voces de los compañeros si las escucho.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gran compra

Product Description
3M™ Peltor™ Optime™ 101 Over-the-Head- Earmuffs are recommended for TWA noise exposures up to 101 dBA.
