Not improvement over the original Shotgunner

Not improvement over the original Shotgunner
This new Shot Gunner II stinks. It's comfortable. What is annoying is that the unit does not snap back into place neatly as the original. It's marketed as slim profile like the original. That one you can carry around in your pocket. This one refuses to fold inwards because the design is bad. The headpiece frame is not long enough for the ear muffs to fold in. So the ends just splay out. Very disappointing. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it wasnt slim profile. I might as well buy the thicker units which offer higher protection but were fatter than the original Shot Gunner. Now the original is all sold out so I cant even find replacement ones or I would buy 2 more just to have backups.

I bought this one for my home renovation project. It reduced the noise to some extend, not totally isolated though. I am still able to hear the TV clearly. However, as a passive device, it is good enough and protected my hear during my project. It is also comfortable to wear and can be folded into a compact shape for easy storage.

A bit snug, but I'd rather they be snug than loose.

This is just right for shooting rifles and pistols on an outdoor range. 24 db is enough noise reduction unless maybe you are firing a .44 Magnum with a compensator. This protector is comfortable. I have a size 7-3/4 head and it is not too tight, and the ear cups fit completely around my ears, not on top of them. I could wish for a bit more cutaway at the bottom to keep it from lifting when your head is pressed tightly to a rifle stock, but it's better than any other one I've seen at that level of noise reduction. This is a quality product and I recommend it for outdoor use. If you are shooting indoors you probably want to look at a 30db muff.

I wear foam ear plugs when I enter my local indoor range and then put these on over my ears when I'm in my stall firing. The combination brings the noise level down to a VERY manageable level. These are also very comfortable and easy to wear for a long session.

Found these from a mention in a WSJ article about using them in conjunction with earbuds to improve the sound and eliminate bleed in. I listen to earbuds at the gym but there is so much noise that the 'buds don't filter it out. These are a revelation! Now I don't have to hear other people rudely talking on their phones, racket from all the machines, and he-men clanging their weights on the floor. They are comfortable and the earpads don't absorb perspiration.

I picked these up to try out. I am always looking for better gear. These are my new favorite ear-pro for shooting. I have larger ears and 7 5/8 hat size. These have very roomy ear cups. I like the ear pad material. The texture keeps it from feeling slimy when you get sweaty and the foam seals around glasses with causing pressure points for me.

I didn't want to give these muffs too low of a rating since the problem I had with them might not be the case for others. These Peltors work well as far as noise cancellation goes, and seemed to be pretty comfortable. However, I could not get a good cheek weld on my rifle while wearing these muffs. I have optics on my rifle which sit about 1.5 inches above the top rail on my rifle. The muffs would not allow me to position the rifle with a good cheek weld while retaining a clear sight picture on my optic. Granted, the sight box on my optic might be smaller than others, so other users may not have the same experience. For me, the shape of the muffs might have been the issue as they're somewhat round-ish. I ended up getting a pair of Walker Razors slim passive earmuffs and those work much better for me. The Walker Razors have a flatter bottom so did not interfere with my cheek weld as much (plus they're less than $20 so that was a bonus).

Comfortable. Use them while shooting shotgun and rifle. I use them over earplugs for big stuff. Also wear them in Walmart to drown out screaming kids, makes shopping so much more tolerable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought primarily for yard work and they seem to be effective

I bought these so I would have my own set next time I go to the range.
I also bought them for yard work when I am using a string trimmer. I like that I can use them with earbuds and the sound proofing is great.
The only drawback is that they are not as comfortable as I had hoped. No ear defenders are going to be super comfortable but put together with safety glasses, the second part of proper PPE, they get to hurting pretty quickly.
Recommend the purchase (particularly if you are not going to be wearing them for hours on end)
