Worked to torque my CZ 457's action screws
5 out of 5 stars
Worked to torque my CZ 457's action screws
The FAT Wrench came in really handy to torque the action screws on both my CZ 457 Varmint MTR's to the recommended 25 inch pounds. It was easy to operate and the instructions were easy to understand. The kit came with all the bits listed and even one that worked for my CZ's. I am hoping that now having the correct torque settings on the action screws the target impact groups will tighten up when bench rest shooting. The only flaw I've found, although not a deal breaker, is the indicator line in the view window is not bright red as the product pictures shown here and on the Wheeler website. It appears to be a really dark burgundy even borderline black as seen on my photo but you can see a hint of the red under certain light conditions. I still did not have any issues seeing the indicator line when setting to the correct torque value. The kit came with a Calibration Certificate and the test readings are well within the lower and upper limit specs. The Calibration Certificate is dated 11/3/2021 so this unit has been sitting on a shelf for a while but there was no torque load on it as is recommended for storing and it seems to work just fine. I don't have anything to check the unit's torque readings so hoping they are accurate. Just remember before storing the wrench return it to the lowest torque setting or you can damage it. If this wrench works out like I expect it to it will be an invaluable tool for action screws, mounting scopes, scope rails, etc., I should have purchased one of these years ago.

The Wheeler Manual Firearms Accurizing Torque Wrench (F.A.T. Wrench) with Inch/Pounds Measurement, Bits, and Storage Case is a must-have for anyone serious about scope mounting, gunsmithing, or firearm maintenance. I’ve been using this tool to ensure my rifle setups are dialed in, and it’s proven to be a reliable, user-friendly addition to my workbench.
What’s to Love: This handheld torque wrench delivers precise, repeatable torque settings from 10 to 65 inch-pounds, adjustable in 5 in-lb increments, with an accuracy of +/- 2 in-lbs up to 40 in-lbs and +/- 5% beyond that. It’s perfect for tightening scope rings, base screws, action screws, and even non-firearm fasteners like bike components. The 1/4" hex drive tip comes with 10 hardened S2 steel bits (including #10, #11, #32 flat blades, 5/32, 7/64, 3/32 hex, T15, T20 Torx, Leupold specialty flat blade, and a hex-to-square adapter), covering most gunsmithing needs. The bits are coated with black phosphate to resist rust, and the magnetized tip keeps them secure during use. The ergonomic rubberized handle reduces hand strain, and the included plastic storage case keeps everything organized. Amazon reviewers rave about its precision, with one stating, “It’s a must for scope mounting—easy to use and very precise”. At $40-$60, it’s a great value compared to pricier alternatives like the Vortex Torque Wrench ($100+).

The driver itself works great. Torqued down my red dot and rifle scope mounts to spec. However, the included torx T8 I believe sheared off when attempting 10 inch pounds, which seems very low given the driver is rated for 60. I had to purchase a separate bit set to use to re mount it on a new gun.

Make sure your electrical panel is OFF before using this torque wrench on it.
After 10 years it was time to retorque the breakers and buss bars on my electrical panel that had been through heat and cold and expansion and contraction. I was adding a circuit and breaker and I got the torque specs from the breakers and panel labels. I purchased a 3" square #2 bit so I wouldn't skin my knuckles working in the panel. I had 3" slotted bits for the buss bar screws. I managed to find multiple screws that were out of spec and correctly tightened them. The torque wrench was easy to use and adjust as I worked. I followed the instructions to put the torque wrench to zero after use. My only issue was with the super magnet that holds the bits in the end. It came loose and pulled out. I got the entire tool replaced by Amazon.
The calibration certificate that came with the unit was very close to perfect for electrical work on my 125A electrical panel. Most electricians don't bother with a torque wrench although it is required by the NEC. They will say their hands are calibrated and you make your connections gutentite. I found this tool perfect for the task. Please turn off your main breaker before using this wrench since it is not insulated for electrical work. If you're not comfortable working in an electrical panel you shouldn't be using this tool for that purpose.

I’ve had one of these for years… but sold it to buy the wheeler digital version … then regretted it
The digital type has no definite stop when it thinks you’ve reached the preset torque… and mine threw the toys out of the pram frequently bleeping and screen going bad
    Can’t trust it
I bought another analogue type and again have a fully trustworthy tool that physically disengages the tool at the preset torque
