I needed a set of metric and US customary unit (US standards unit) Allen wrenches for my garage/house, and after narrowing down on a few items, I decided to purchase this set "TEKTON 25252 26-pc. Long Arm Hex Key".
It had good reviews, it was heat treated steel, not sure if it was on sale, but either way, it was not too expensive.
I have only used the metric set so far, but there should not be any difference in quality between these two sets. The biggest test I have exposed these wrenches to, was using a 6mm wrench to remove and tighten the bolts on my car seat. The bolts were tight because the car seats were never removed before. After that, I have applied some serious torque to tighten the seats down again.
I have used some soft wrenches in the past, where they would deform, and because of that, I inspected this wrench for damage out of curiosity. There was no deformation present, the wrench has remained unchanged. I was really happy with that. The only thing that has happened, is that the anodized (black oxide) portion that came in touch with the bolt is gone. That is to be expected with high torque and usage of the tools, but the quality of the tool is not affected.
It is hard to rate something perfect, but this item I rate 5 stars, because it has met my needs and expectations. I wanted a product that fulfills its purpose (it's a wrench and has a variety of sizes), and I wanted a product that is rigid (no quality degradation). Based on the usage so far, these tools will last me for a long time.
Each set opens up/unfolds (like a butterfly), which allows you to easily remove smaller sized wrenches.
